A rugged watch with red, green and blue accents

Two Japanese icons, one wrist. To mark Pokémon's 30th anniversary, Casio is releasing a collaboration G-SHOCK — model GA-110PKM-7AJR — and it lands in Japanese stores on July 17, 2026 (Friday). If you're visiting Japan this month, this is one of the most giftable, carry-home-able collabs of the year — and unlike trading-card drops, you can realistically walk into a store and buy it.

The Design (Why Fans Are Losing It)

The white analog-digital 110-series case carries red, green and blue accents — a nod to the original trio of games. The subdial takes a Poké Ball motif, the hands carry a Pikachu silhouette, and the band is the showstopper: starter Pokémon from across the series plus Pikachu and Eevee — 29 in total — printed along the strap, with Mew hiding on the band loop to make it 30. Even the box is shaped like a Poké Ball.

Lottery-Only? Not Anymore

The pre-release phase — retailer reservations from July 1 and the CASIO online store lottery (July 1–6) — has ended. What's left is the part that matters for travelers:

  • From July 17, it's a normal store release. G-SHOCK STOREs, watch retailers and some big electronics stores will sell it over the counter, first-come.
  • Expect per-person limits and day-one sellouts at flagship locations, with follow-up stock arriving over subsequent weeks — this is a regular-production collab, not a one-shot.

How to Buy One as a Visitor

  1. Go on release day (or after) to a G-SHOCK STORE or a big electronics retailer. Tokyo's G-SHOCK STOREs (Shibuya, etc.) and the watch floors of Bic Camera / Yodobashi are the prime targets.
  2. Use tax-free shopping. At ¥33,000 this comfortably qualifies — bring your passport and the effective price drops by the consumption-tax amount. That's a real discount most Japanese buyers don't get.
  3. Missed the first wave? Check G-SHOCK Pokémon listings on Amazon Japan — official restocks appear there, and it delivers to hotels. Resale prices above ¥33,000 mean you're paying scalper premium; restocks usually come.
  4. Watch the band size and warranty. G-SHOCK straps are easily adjusted in-store; ask the counter and it's done in minutes.

Stock allocation varies by store — call ahead or check the retailer app on the day.

Pokémon's 30th Is a Whole Season

This watch is one piece of a larger anniversary wave — the Pokémon TCG's new "Storm Emeralda" set lands July 31 with its own buying quirks. We broke down exactly how tourists can get Storm Emeralda here. Need data for stock-hunting? Grab a Japan eSIM on Klook.

FAQ

Was it lottery-only? Only the pre-release period was. From July 17 it's regular in-store sale — competitive, but open to everyone.

Can foreigners buy it? Yes — walk into a stocking store from July 17. No Japanese account needed, and tax-free applies with a passport at major retailers.

How much should I pay? ¥33,000 tax included at retail (less with tax-free). Meaningfully above that is resale markup.

Is it a Japan-exclusive? The JR suffix marks the Japan release; overseas availability differs by region — buying it in Japan during the anniversary is the collector's move.
