Lesson 2: Asking Questions in a Shop

🎯 Learning objective

Ask "do you have ___?", ask the price of an item, and ask where something is located in the store.

The three questions you'll ask most often in any otaku-goods shop: "do you have this?", "how much is it?", and "where is it?"

Key Phrases

  • Do you have ___? — 〇〇 is a placeholder for whatever item you're asking about; pointing at the item works too.
  • How much is this?
  • Where is ___?
  • May I look at it?
  • Do you have other colors? — 他の色はありますか?(Hoka no iro wa arimasu ka?)
(Shōshō omachi kudasai).
  • I'm sorry, it's currently out of stock (staff) — 申し訳ございません、ただいま品切れです。(Mōshiwake gozaimasen, tadaima shinagire desu.)
