Conversation Lesson

Lesson 1: Hotel & Event Check-In

🎯 Learning objective

Say you have a reservation, give your name, ask what time check-in opens, and say you do not have a reservation.

This lesson covers 予約・受付 (reservation / reception) — language that works the same way at a hotel front desk and at an event or convention reception counter.

Key Phrases

  • I have a reservation — 予約をしています。(Yoyaku o shite imasu.)
  • My name is ___ — 名前は〇〇です。(Namae wa 〇〇 desu.) — 〇〇 is a placeholder: swap in whatever word you need, here your own name.
  • Check-in, please — チェックインをお願いします。(Chekku-in o onegai shimasu.)
  • I don't have a reservation — 予約はしていません。(Yoyaku wa shite imasen.)
  • From what time can I check in? — 何時からチェックインできますか?(Nanji kara chekku-in dekimasu ka?)
  • Your passport, please (what staff will say) — パスポートをお願いします。(Pasupōto o onegai shimasu.)
